Theta Grill-Off for CASA!

Last week was a very busy time at the Theta house! It was Grill-Off week and we had a lot of events planned to help us raise money for our philanthropy, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). On Tuesday, Scout's Treat Truck parked in our driveway and sold cupcakes! A percentage of the proceeds from the treats was given back to CASA! Wednesday was BRICS give-back day! A percentage of the purchases made at BRICS (Broad Ripple Ice Cream Shop) was donated to CASA. The rest of the week was spent preparing for the big event: Grill-Off! On Saturday afternoon, we set up the yard and our wonderful chef, Ryan, began grilling tons of burgers and hot dogs. We had corn hole, hillbilly golf, and an egg toss on the Switzer lawn. It was parents weekend as well, so they got to join in on the fun and see how hard we work to raise money for our philanthropy. Wednesday was BRICS give-back day! We had a blast watching the creative routines and costumes that the boys put together! Congratulations to Delta Tau Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Sigma Chi for placing in the lip-sync competition! On Sunday morning we ended our Grill-Off weekend with a wonderful brunch with our parents! We had a great time raising money for CASA last week and are anxious to hear the final donation numbers! Thetas Abroad: Bienvenido a EspaƱa!

This semester, we have four Thetas studying abroad in Spain! Juniors, Courtney Hooker, Katy Hagan, Jackie Marsh, and Sarah Martin will spend their Fall semester studying in the city of Alcala and traveling to many beautiful cities in Spain.
Last Wednesday, the girls left Indy and flew to Washington D.C. where they boarded their seven hour flight for Spain! When they finally arrived, the jet-lagged group waited patiently for their professors to arrive so that they could go meet their host families in Alcala.
So far, they have toured the city of Alcala and the school where they will be studying this semester, and have traveled to Spain's capital, Madrid.  We miss all four of you and cannot wait to hear about all of your adventures when we see you in the Winter!

Welcome Week and a new school year

Last weekend was busy for all of the Thetas as we moved back into the Gamma house. After a long, quiet summer, the house exploded on Saturday with happy girls reuniting with familiar faces and bonding with new roommates.
On Tuesday, we geared up for Block Party! Block Party is held on the Butler Mall and is an opportunity for the new freshman class to sign up for clubs on campus and learn more about Greek Life and Formal Recruitment. We headed for the Mall, excited to mingle and talk to new freshman and answer any questions they may have about Theta and Greek Life in general. Unfortunately, after only 30 minutes, it started pouring and Block Party was cancelled. We are looking forward to a second chance at Block Party this Friday from 4-6 PM.
This morning was the first day of classes here at Butler, and after a long relaxing summer, we are preparing for another great semester at Theta. As the new school year begins, we have some very exciting news: It was recently announced that, once again, the women of Kappa Alpha Theta achieved the highest GPA of all of the Greek organizations on Butler's campus!

We are so proud of everyone for working so hard to achieve our goal! Lots and lots of Theta Love! Good luck with classes girls!
